Day 10 Tuesday 31st May
Lakeland to Archer River Roadhouse
One hour to pack up, we are getting good at this!
My turn to drive today, I have the wheel of Barry's Hilux. I had Hannah and then Nanny in the passenger seat.
On again, off again bitumen and gravel/dirt with lots of dips, shallow water crossing and mud. It was actually my first time driving in those conditions and I really enjoyed it. Barry said I can drive again tomorrow!
Quick stops in Musgrave Roadhouse for morning tea and Coen for Lunch, but Brendan was on a mission to get there, he is missing the ocean!
We arrived at Archer River Roadhouse at around 2.30 and set up under the lovely trees. The industrial washing machine did a great job on the towels and clothes ($6 per load). Kids were quick to help with the jobs when they found out we could swim in the river.
Definitely a highlight of the trip, swimming in the Archer River. The swift currant was lots of fun. We all went up and down meant times. There is still a car in the water that got washed off the bridge a few weeks ago in the floods.
Tree swing was a hit with the kids.
Burritos and camp-fire to finish the day, Bliss! Blake is getting good with the axe.
