Day 8 Sunday 29th May
Porcupine Gorge to Undara Volcanic National Park
Struggled to get out of the warm sleeping bag today, not sure what the overnight temperature but it was cold enough for me to wear a beanie to bed! Kids found the snake skin that Nanny and Poppy had seen too.
Packed up quickly as we wanted to get on the road to Undara. We needed to allow time for the unsealed roads along the way, 328km of cattle fields, kangaroos, lots of birds and red dust.
Oasis Roadhouse was closed, maybe as its Sunday, so we had a quick bush wee and pushed onto Undara.
We did 2 tours at Undara - the Wind Tunnel and the Sunset Wildlife Tour. It was a short coach ride out to the sites, with the kids fighting over the front seat.
It was interesting to learn the geology of the lava tube formation. Makes you feel very insignificant when you think about earth's long history.
The sunset tour was magnificent as we had such perfect weather. The champagne and nibbles went down very easily.
The micro bats were all around us and super fast!
